8th Grade Stampede Night

Friday, September 16th: 5:45pm – approx. 9pm

This message is for 8th grade parents in Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble.

1. I had a pretty serious editing issue of last year’s Stampede Night doc!  The corrected document is attached. The Stampede Night document I sent y’all a few days ago has conflicting pickup information. For clarity – Drop off for this event is at the Belton Middle School drop off loop @5:45pm.  Pick up is at the Special Event Space (former MS student section) @ approximately 9pm following half time.  The special event space is a gated section in between the home side bleachers and the field house.

2. The emails I’ve sent out through skyward this week have kicked back 70%.  Reading the delivery failure messages make me think it’s a permissions issue with skyward & google/gmail. Teacher emails are in a process of moving from Outlook to gmail. I’ve never had this massive kick-back issue before so I am assuming this is the root of the problem. I have reached out to our campus tech and our building principal and it wouldn’t hurt for some of you all to reach out and voice concern on this issue as well.  Hopefully this reaches more of you.  PLEASE share this message with your 8th grade band parent friends just in case they are of the 70% of parents that have not received my emails this week regarding 8th Grade Stampede Night.

3. Uniform for this event: school-appropriate blue jeans and a provided Stampede shirt.

4.  The Stampede Booster Club is providing water for your student – they do not need to bring a water bottle to the event.  Please feed them before you drop them off and encourage hydration on Thursday and Friday leading up to the event.

5. Students need a flip folder and some instruments need a music lyre.  These items are most conveniently bought at Music & Arts or on amazon. I will list my lyre/flip folder recommendations below. I have 30-40 flip folders and lyres that I plan on loaning out.  If about half of y’all could get your students hooked up with these supplies I’ll happily cover the rest.

Flutes, oboes, bassoon, and french horns – I like the flip folders that attach to the student’s arm. (no lyre).
Clarinet – flip folder and a clarinet lyre (attaches between the joints of the clarinet).
Saxophone – flip folder and saxophone lyre (about a 3-5” post that attaches at the top of sax).
Trumpet – flip folder and trumpet lyre (attaches to trumpet in place of the ring).
Trombone – flip folder with clips/clamps to attach to trombone bell (no lyre).
Euphonium, tuba, percussion – flip folder and no lyre
